Applying for a Transcription Birth Certificate
This service is for Cameroonian children born in the UK and the Scandinavian Region exclusively. The transcription process registers the birth in the Cameroonian civil register, which is required for Cameroonian identity documents including passports and national ID cards.
A formal written request must be addressed to The High Commissioner (handwritten or typed), containing the full address in the UK or Scandinavian region, phone number, email, and profession of both parents.
Supporting Documents Required
- Copies of mother's and father's passports (data page only)
- Original and photocopy of British and/or Scandinavian birth certificate(s)
- Copy of marriage certificate, if applicable
- Certified letter of authorisation from the non-Cameroonian parent
- Registered pre-paid return envelope with the applicant's address, if applicable
- Fee of Β£20.00 in cash or postal order (payable to Cameroon High Commission)

Minimum waiting period: two (2) weeks (14 clear days) from the date of submission.

Parents of Cameroonian children born outside Cameroon are strongly encouraged to request a transcription of their child's birth certificate into a Cameroonian birth certificate within three months of their birth. This simplifies future passport and identity document applications.
