Conditions for Obtaining an Emergency Travel Document
The Emergency Travel Document (Laissez-Passer) is an emergency passport to enable travellers who have lost their passports to return to Cameroon. It is also issued to people without a valid residence permit who wish to return home permanently.

The Laissez-Passer must not be used to evade immigration authorities after overstaying. Residents cannot apply for a Travel Document except in exceptional circumstances assessed on a case-by-case basis. The High Commission will no longer automatically issue them to those who simply claim their passport has expired. Cameroonians are strongly advised to renew their passports in good time.
Required Documents
- Formal written request to The High Commissioner (handwritten or typed) with full UK/Scandinavian address, phone number, email, and profession
- Completed Emergency Travel Certificate application form (download below)
- One-way air travel ticket, e-ticket, or e-booking confirmation
- Fee — cash only; see the Consular Fees page for current amounts
- Two (02) recent passport-size photographs (4cm × 4cm) — photocopies, instant photos, or scanned photos not accepted
- Certified true copy of original birth certificate
- Proof of legal residency — previous Cameroon passport, current National ID, consular card, or residence permit
- International vaccination certificate (if applicable — Yellow Fever vaccine must be taken at least 10 days before travel)
- Legalised attestation of loss or invalidity of your Cameroonian passport
